DIY Herb Garden

Another post about Spring! So surprising… I know.

In the spirit of Spring though, here is a cute little DIY created to help you get your Spring and Summer gardens started.

DIY Herb Garden

What You’ll Need:

  • Assorted herbs
  • Gloves
  • White acrylic paint
  • Terracotta pots
  • Tape
  • Two pencils
  • A paintbrush
  • Clear coat
  • My cursive name stencils – Click HERE to download
  • Optional – Tape, extra soil, and other paint colors

Step One

Using your pencil cover the backside of the names on the paper completely. Make this as dark as you can. (pictures below to see an example of this)

Pictures are posted below with examples of this.

Step Two

Flip the paper to the front side and carefully place each name on the desired spot. Tape it down.

Tape it down.

Step Three

Trace the name pressing down as hard as possible. This is going to leave a VERY light stencil on the pot for you to trace with paint. Remove the tape and the paper.

Step Four

Using the white paint, trace the pencil stencil on the pot.

Let dry.

Do another coat.

Let it dry again.

Aaaaaaaaand one more coat just to be safe!

Step Five

This one is optional.

Paint the top rim of your pot using the remaining white paint, do several coats.

Step Six

Now that everything is dry, spray your pots using the glossy clear coat.

This step will make everything white on you pot glossy with the exception of the pot itself because the terracotta soaks up the moisture in seconds.

Let everything dry.

Step Seven

Re-pot your herbs into your fancy new DIY Herb Garden.

Take a bunch of pictures to show off how crafty you are.
