How To Make Yourself a Priority in 2017

Let’s face it. It’s January 1st and you’ve just made a long list of New Year’s resolutions, most of which you most likely won’t keep. But, if there is one resolution that should keep its make yourself a priority this year. If you’re anything like me, you have a history of, well, overworking yourself. Whether it’s your social life, work, school or money that’s been dragging you down take a step back this year and make yourself a priority for once. Here’s a few ways to make that a little bit easier:

  1. Turn off your phone for an hour. Do it, take a second for yourself. You won’t regret it.

  2. Buy yourself a treat. You deserve it and you know it. One cookie won’t ruin your diet forever.

  3. Clean out your closet and bring your clothes to a consignment store. You might only make $100.00 or so but hey that’s a few new shirts.

  4. Opt out of a few commitments. Seriously, you don’t have to do EVERYTHING. If you’ve got a commitment you’re absolutely dreading, respectfully cancel. What’s the worst that could happen?

  5. Book your dream vacation. Save for it later. If its 4 months in the future, you’ll have plenty of time and motivation to save up.

  6. Buy fresh flowers once a week. Having fresh flowers in your home has been proven to relieve anxiety and stress.

  7. Take a bath

  8. Instead of focusing on the things you have to do make and accomplishments list and tape it up where you see it every day. Don’t forget to leave room for future accomplishments!

  9. Treat yourself. Get a massage, a spray tan, a mani-pedi, a facial… Better yet use Groupon and save yourself some money.

  10. Finally, turn up the music, make yourself dinner, dance around, and smile a little!
